During the Christmas season, there isn’t a more peaceful or wholesome activity than caroling. In a recent report, members of the Thomas Circle Singers were performing at a benefit concert in Washington D.C. in an effort to raise funds for a local homeless organization.

While they sang for the good cause, an unknown suspect made off with their wallets, cash and credit cards. The carolers had been at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on a recent Sunday.

The performers stashed their personal belongings in an unlocked room in the basement of the religious building. That's when the thief struck.

The cards must have been illegally put to use right away, because the singers claimed thousands of dollars had been charged before anyone was even aware they were missing. The cards had been swiped at several stores including REI and Toys R Us.

A spokesperson for the Thomas Circle Singers said a total of 15 cards were stolen. Although most of the performers were disappointed, one in particular said she believed the person responsible for the act must have been underprivileged and in need.

D.C. police are currently investigating the thefts and urge all the victims to come forward and file complaints.
