Artist Replaces Advertising Head Shots With Own Portrait

Art director Phil Jones has made an art of replacing real estate agent’s ad photos with his own.

As an art designer, Phil Jones never had the occasion to put his face on a park bench ad. Having developed a fascination with real estate agents, who get to do it all the time, Phil decided to make their unique fortune his own.

He started to go around the city and plaster his face over those of the lucky ones.

Not wanting to squander the opportunity, Jones said he was very meticulous about how he went about it.

Explaining his process, he said, “I went out and took all the photos and then worked with a producer who helped me source all the clothes and the wigs. The producer then helped me get in the right poses and take the photos.”

Notably, he stopped short of both shaving and applying make up when duplicating the female looks.

Armed with the prints and some adhesive, Jones went out to make their ads his own.

While on site, he snapped before and after shots before removing his portrait and moving onto the next.

The 11 resulting side-by-side photos create a collective work entitled ‘The Faces of Real Estate’.

Next he plans to target injury lawyer billboards.
