Man Fatally Electrocuted While Hanging Holiday Lights for Neighbor

In an absolutely tragic report, a man recently passed away after hanging holiday lights. According to law enforcement in Anne Arundel County, the victim, identified as Jason Byrnes, had been stringing Christmas lights for a neighbor when the ladder he was standing on made contact with an electrical wire.

Christmas decorating is a fairly standard household task that many homeowners do every single year. However it can be extremely dangerous in some cases.

In an absolutely tragic report, a man recently passed away after hanging holiday lights. According to law enforcement in Anne Arundel County, the victim, identified as Jason Byrnes, had been stringing Christmas lights for a neighbor when the ladder he was standing on made contact with an electrical wire.

He was electrocuted and it turned out to be fatal. Emergency crews were immediately contacted for assistance.

A Maryland State Police helicopter was sent to the scene along with firefighters. Byrnes was transported to the Prince George's Trauma Center, but it was too late. He was pronounced dead at the medical facility.

The troubling occurrence happened at a little before 4:30 pm on a recent Monday in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue in North Beach. The local police department is currently investigating the incident but thus far, the 34-year-old’s death is being considered accidental.
