One soldier killed in Karachi blast

STORY: A bomb exploded near a vehicle carrying paramilitary officials in Karachi, killing at least one and injuring six others Thursday.

The truck was carrying 10 paramilitary officials when a remote controlled bomb planted on a motorbike exploded.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack took place in the city's eastern neighborhood of Landhi, where some pockets of militants have been reported in past

Paramilitary troops, called Rangers in Pakistan, were currently taking part in a joint operation with police in the city against criminals.

The port city of Karachi is Pakistan's financial heart and home to 18 million people.
