A father in Maryland is living with guilt after he accidentally ran over his own daughter. 36-year-old James G. Kalergis had been driving down his driveway at approximately 8 o’clock on a recent morning.

While maneuvering his Acura on the driveway, the father realized he had driven over his 4-year-old daughter, who had been lying on the driveway. Traumatically, Kalergis did not see his child until it was too late, as his driveway is steeply sloped, limiting his vision.

There is some good news however. The small child is expected to make a full recovery. Immediately following the accident, she was flown to a nearby hospital in Baltimore.

Law enforcement authorities have ruled the incident as accidental. The father will not be facing any legal charges.

However as part of standard procedure, Child Protective Services along with the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office will receive reports detailing the horrific occurrence.

What do you think of the accident, under what circumstances should authorities consider charges against parents in such scenarios?
