Would-Be Thief Leaves Severed Finger at Crime Scene

One man in Glendale, Arizona left behind his own severed finger at the scene of a crime. It all started after a worker for an air conditioning business contacted law enforcement to inform them that a person had attempted to steal copper wiring from his truck.

The vehicle had been parked in the employee’s driveway. The victim was alerted something was wrong after realizing the spool, which contained the copper wiring had been pulled from the vehicle.
It had been left about 20 feet from the truck and tangled in the wires was something that appeared to be a human finger. A cop soon arrived at the residence.
The finger was scooped up and seized as evidence. Forensic investigators were able to get a fingerprint from the specimen. The suspect was named as 29-year-old Joshua Goverman, who was quickly arrested and told cops his finger had been cut off while doing mechanical work on a car.
A police spokesperson comically noted “That version slightly changed when Joshua observed the other half of his finger, now residing in the Glendale Police Evidence Room. You might say Joshua's finger had its own version of the story to tell and pointed Joshua directly to jail.”
