Batman and women rock the stage at the NSUD Nite Delhi'13.
Celebrating its 50th year of existence at Tyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi, the finale of the Naga Students Union Delhi's (NSUD) Golden Jubilee Celebrations was held under the theme 'the motto@50: Pause, Rewind and Play' on October 18, 2013.
The first President of the NSUD (1963-1964), Dr. Aryo Shishak was the chief guest for the momentous occasion. In his special Golden Jubilee address, Dr. Aryo Shishak, who is a retired Surgeon, shared the story behind the formation of the NSUD in 1963, and how God has rewarded them for their faithfulness with the completion of 50 years of the NSUD's existence.
He encouraged the Nagas to have a vision, and with sincerity make Nagaland a land of opportunity. In order to be successful, he said courage, dreams and determination were essential and to never give up because neither is success final, nor is failure fatal. He also encouraged the young Nagas to look beyond Government service, and emphasized upon the need to venture out beyond writing competitive exams.
Reminiscing on the long and exciting journey that NSUD had travelled these past 50 years, President, NSUD Lhusisato Iralu, in his address said the celebration was not just about the mere existence of a union, but more importantly, about the unity that the NSUD has always sought to represent, and the unity that it has enjoyed these past 5 decades. He stated "Fifty years of completion of the NSUD is no doubt an incredible achievement and a milestone, and therefore an opportune moment for us to reflect upon our past mistakes and flaws, and learning from them". He reiterated the NSUD's ardent desire would remain the oneness of the Nagas, and impressed upon the need for Nagas to be honest and transparent with each other, and that we must endeavour to be the best we can be, and be the change we desire to see.
Stating significance of the event, NSF President Tongpang Ozukum, said that the NSUD was formed in 1963, a period when the Nagas hardly ventured out of their own cocoon. He acknowledged that what NSUD is today, is because of the hard work, sacrifice and far- sightedness of the former leaders. The NSF President also made a passionate appeal to the Ao Students' Union and NSUD to set aside differences and urged the ASUD to return to the NSUD fold. He emphatically stated the need for Nagas to forgive each other, to reconcile and live together as one people.
