Corsair Cc650dw Obsidian Aluminum Enthusiast Review

The case itself is absolutely beautiful. Roomy, easy to install a PC in, good cooling capabilities (200mm fans with relatively unobstructed airflow), and quite frankly the best midsize tower I have ever worked in. If 200mm fans arent for you you can shove 2 120mm or 2 140mm fans in their place without any trouble. Need more hard drive space or need to move the hard drive bay No problem! The toolless design for the optical drive bays actually works, as opposed to what Ive seen with Lian Li. Power supply mounting is sturdy as well and supports extra long power supplies (for that future PC that has a 1200W supply that is). The only negative part about this case right now The fan controller on the CC650DW is known to be bad Corsair has admitted to it. A "fix" is available at Corsairs website that shoves a capacitor into the PWM fan controller circuit but that negatively affects the range of fan speeds that can be selected. If you contact Corsair support directly you can ask for a new fan controller unit that has a proper fix (new controller that works right without the capacitor "fix"), but youll have to practically tear the case apart to replace the component. Not to mention Corsair has not gotten back to me in almost a week regarding when my new fan controller is going to ship, and I have a pending RMA for another Corsair product that they are dragging their feet on as well. Bottom line, dont bother putting up with fixing a defective fan controller. Order the CC650DW1 if you want this case, and get a part that is actually correct out of the box. Now if youll excuse me, I have a CC650DW to return to the store. http://garyadair.com/482983
