A man in a wheelchair injured himself at Beijing Capital International Airport in China at around 6:24 p.m. on Saturday after detonating a home-made explosive. The blast sent smoke through the exit area of the international arrivals section of Terminal 3.

According to the airport, the man was the only person injured from the blast, and operations resumed to normal after the explosion. One witness said business returned to normal about 90 minutes after the blast, and there were no indications of extra security. Witnesses at the scene used their cell phones to record the event.

China's official Xinhua news agency reported that the man man was identified as 34-year-old Ji Zhongxing from the eastern province of Shandong. He detonated the device after he was stopped from passing out leaflets regarding complaints he had with the government.

Online postings by some Chinese activists and rights lawyers said Ji was partially paralyzed in a 2005 incident where he was beaten by police in Guangdong province's manufacturing hub of Dongguan. Ji's grievances were regarding his inability to find work or compensation for his condition.
