It’s shocking how far some people will go to smuggle drugs. Concealing narcotics in vehicles or major truck shipments seem to be the most popular ways, but others go for a more innovative approach.

One man was recently arrested right off the coast of San Diego. He had been trying to float to the U.S., but the problem was that he was sitting on a duffle bag that was chock full of marijuana.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents spotted the male approximately 600 yards from shore, right near the U.S./Mexico border. When the authorities investigated, they found the bag contained roughly $23,000 in illegal drugs.

In total, seven bundles of pot were discovered inside the duffle, which weighed 52.43 pounds. The large amount of pot was seized by border agents.

While the suspect’s identity has not yet been released, he was described as a 55-year-old citizen of Mexico. The swimmer did not have any proper documents which would allow him to legally enter America.

Initially agents questioned him, but he was soon transported to a border control station for processing.
