Golfer Hunter Mahan was poised to win a million dollar tournament, but when he got the message that his wife was in labor, he chose to witness the birth of his new baby instead.

Mahan had a two-stroke lead going into the third and final round of the Canadian Open, but while practicing was informed by his agent that it was time.

He withdrew from the tourney and hopped a plane to Dallas to be with his wife. She had unexpectedly gone into labor one month before her due date.

The next day he tweeted to his fans, “What a whirlwind of a day, but I'm happy to announce the birth of my daughter Zoe Olivia Mahan born at 3:26 am. Thanks for all the support!”

And later that day added, “Both Baby and Mom are doing great. Thanks to all to my sponsors who appreciate what's important in life and all my fans for being Awesome!”

Brandt Snedeker, who ended up winning the Canadian Open and the prize money, said he owed the baby a very nice gift.
