A mastiff mix breed named Bear recently saved the lives of his new owner and her grandson.

Animals seem to have an uncanny ability to detect when something is horribly wrong.

A dog named Bear recently saved the life of his owner and her grandson.

Carolyn Swinson adopted Bear approximately three weeks ago from an animal shelter. One of Swinson’s house rules for the dog was ‘no sleeping in the bed’. However one night Bear broke the golden rule and jumped on Swinson’s bed and alerted her that the house was on fire.

Two people began pounding on the door, but Swinson says she would not have heard them if she had not already been woken up by Bear because of a loud air conditioner in her bedroom. The woman ran to a portion of the home where her 9-year-old grandson D.J. was sleeping and woke him up.

They managed to escape the home without injury. The fire is currently under investigation, but it may have been caused by faulty wiring on a pool filter.

Bear received some Kentucky Fried Chicken for the frantic effort to save his family. Swinson stated “I have my life and I attribute it to this dog.”
