Businesses and shopowners in Turkey are beginning to feel the pinch of a week's worth of anti-government demonstrations.

Here in the tourist stronghold Istanbul, hotels and restaurants on Taksim Square are seeing less traffic.

The owner of this restaurant, whose window has been damaged after protests, says numbers are definitely down from last year.

Nightly demonstrations against Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's perceived authoritarian rule have continued since last week.

Three people have been killed and close to 5,000 injured with both sides appearing dug in for the long haul.

How and when the matter will be resolved is anyone's guess.

At The Point hotel-- the demonstrations are not necessarily a point of contention. The owner says while some bookings have been canceled, most of the summers reservations are still intact. Unfortunately, you can't say the same for other parts of Istanbul.
