SABAH BENZIADI
Was born in Algeri and since she was young she has been acting as dancers and choreographer. She is known as Ambassador of Oriental Dances in the world and she has attended at different international conventions winning relevant chorographical prizes.
The teacher Sabah Benziadi keeps together all her skills through a great effort that shows, above all, the seeking of innovation and originality of experimental Dance – Theatre, in order to convey through expressions and choreographies , a meeting point for cultures, just seemingly different.
Sabah Benziadi has been rewarded according to her merits at Babylonia Festival in Iraq, she has taken part into several international television programmes, particularly in the Mediterranean area and she has worked together with world - famous Italian and stranger artists like the singer-songwriter Franco Battiato and Cheb Khaled.
She has created the dance group El Khaina and, with it, she has recorded a huge success all around the world. She is particularly appreciated for her dances and her choreographies that don’t evoke lascivious sensations but they convey great wonder for the grace of movements, suggestion of magic atmospheres and joy of living.
She has created the following works:
• ONE THOUSAND AND ONE VEIL – performed at the TAOART 2004 in the Greek Theatre of Taormina.
• VEILS OF ALGERI – it is written in prose and it was performed at the memorial of Assia Djebar in Venice.
• MED MY LOVE – performed at the Babylonia Festival in Iraq awarded with the prize to the merits of Sabah Benziadi.
• HOUDOUD – performed at the Mediterranean Festival of Bisceglie.
• ONE THOUSAND AND SEVEN VEILS – performance of Oriental Dance - Theatre at the Selinunte Temple, Taormina and Agrigento.
