01:50 [MUSIC PLAYING]
02:06 Welcome back, welcome back.
02:08 You all ready for the first kid?
02:10 Yes.
02:11 I promise you won't be disappointed.
02:13 At just six years old, our next guest has already made history by being the youngest
02:21 published author in Trinidad and Tobago.
02:25 Yeah.
02:26 She has published several books, runs her own book club, and has been featured in talk
02:33 shows all over the Caribbean and North America.
02:38 I'm telling you, one of her goals is to share her love for reading and writing with her peers.
02:46 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the stage.
02:49 Welcome to the stage and Kids So Amazing, Corinne.
02:53 [APPLAUSE]
03:01 Hello, Corinne.
03:02 Hello.
03:03 [LAUGHTER]
03:05 How are you?
03:06 I'm good.
03:07 Here, have a seat, have a seat.
03:09 Welcome.
03:11 Let's see, like you've been here already.
03:14 Yes.
03:15 So tell me, how are you doing?
03:18 I'm amazing.
03:21 Yes, she is.
03:22 Yes, she is.
03:23 Corinne, you have accomplished so much at a really young age.
03:27 How does it feel to do these things that is not normal?
03:32 It's not a normal thing.
03:33 You do things that amazes everybody.
03:36 How do you feel about that?
03:38 I feel proud of my work, and I should.
03:41 And how does-- definitely, definitely.
03:44 How does your mommy and daddy feel about it?
03:46 Happy.
03:47 How old were you when you wrote your first book?
03:51 Four.
03:52 Four years old?
03:53 What drew you to, you know, something I could write and publish my own books?
03:57 I think it was sometime in October.
04:01 I think it was October the 19th.
04:03 The 19th.
04:04 Your memory's sharp.
04:06 Corinne, I need to ask you, why you think it's important at a young age
04:12 to start reading or enjoy reading and enjoy writing?
04:16 Well, for all of us, we're on school vacation, as am I.
04:21 Right.
04:22 And we have lots of things to do, spare time, like play with our friends,
04:27 play with our toys.
04:29 But you need to do reading, too.
04:31 Reading is important.
04:33 Okay.
04:34 That's-- are you all hearing this message?
04:36 Yes.
04:37 Are you all hearing this message?
04:38 What advice do you have for adults that, you know, to entice them to, you know,
04:42 pick up a book, go to the library, go to the bookstore, grab a book?
04:46 Well, the thing that I would say is, people, you don't know you like reading yet.
04:50 Go pick up a book, read it to the end.
04:54 [Applause]
04:58 To the end. You hear that?
05:00 That book you're on, you're on chapter one three years now.
05:03 Go and pick it up and, Corinne, finish it, please.
05:06 Finish it, people.
05:09 Thank you very much.
05:11 [Laughter]
05:13 So, who inspires you most?
05:15 I think it's probably my mom.
05:18 Your mom? Why your mom?
05:20 Well, actually, she was the one who inspired me to start reading and writing.
05:26 Where's mom?
05:27 Hello, mom.
05:28 She's right there.
05:29 Hello.
05:30 How are you?
05:31 I am fine, thanks.
05:32 So, as Corinne said, reading is a part of the family.
05:35 How much generations has reading been a part of the family?
05:38 Okay, my grandmother, Corinne's great-grandmother, she was a very avid reader as well.
05:44 So, myself, a lot of my cousins, my aunts before me, we're into books.
05:50 Right.
05:51 Yeah, we're into books a lot.
05:52 So, that's something that I started sharing with Corinne since before she was born.
05:57 So, thankfully, it stuck.
05:58 We need to get into the books now because I see you have some dollies here.
06:02 They go with the new books that will be coming out.
06:06 Okay, and I see you have a special one here as well.
06:09 Yeah.
06:10 Compare.
06:11 Okay, so this pairs with this.
06:17 Yes, you can get a red or purple doll with this.
06:22 I actually have a purple doll but I didn't bring it because it was too dirty.
06:25 That is beautiful.
06:26 That is beautiful.
06:27 So, which one is your favorite book?
06:30 I think my favorite one might be this one.
06:34 This one?
06:35 What's the name of this one?
06:36 The Congress of Corinne, the General Annotated Book.
06:39 So, can you read something from your book for me?
06:41 Well, there's only instructions in here but there's actually one part that I could read.
06:47 Okay.
06:48 Hello, friends.
06:49 My name is Corinne Anaya Clark and I'm a Caribbean author from Trinidad and Tobago.
06:55 Writing is one of my favorite things to do and I found that it helps me untangle my emotions.
07:01 You know what emotions are, don't you?
07:03 I do.
07:04 Emotions is another word for feelings.
07:07 We can feel happy, sad, angry, disappointed, excited or even afraid.
07:11 Go on.
07:14 Sometimes when our emotions are really strong, it's difficult for us to say what we feel.
07:20 But guess what?
07:21 Writing helps.
07:22 Yup, writing in my journal helps me identify what I'm feeling and why I feel that way.
07:29 This makes it a lot easier for me to talk about to my family and my friends.
07:35 That is lovely, Corinne.
07:36 You all give it up for Corinne, you know.
07:39 How many books you own right now?
07:41 Eight.
07:42 Eight?
07:43 That's your eight personal books.
07:45 Uh-huh.
07:46 Talk to them.
07:47 The fourth book is Congress of Corinne in memory of my great-grandmother.
07:53 And this might be a bit sad.
07:55 Talk to them.
07:56 Talk to them.
07:57 So my great-grandmother, as my mom said, died last year.
08:02 Right, right.
08:03 And I really never got to know her.
08:06 I only got to meet her one time before she died.
08:09 That is her?
08:10 Yes.
08:11 Oh, what's granny's name?
08:14 Granny Renita Jones.
08:16 So you dedicated this to your granny?
08:18 Yes, and it also teaches children to appreciate their grandparents while they're still alive.
08:24 You listen to music?
08:25 Yeah.
08:26 Yeah?
08:27 What's one of your favorite songs?
08:29 Some are like Till I'm Old and Grey by Patrice Roberts.
08:34 Can you sing the Patrice Roberts for us?
08:36 Okay.
08:37 Till I'm old and grey, till I'm old and grey, till I'm old and grey, till I'm old and grey,
08:45 till I'm old and grey, till I'm old and grey, till I'm old and grey.
08:52 Basically like that.
08:53 You don't know me already.
08:58 When I start a party, I just go.
09:01 You all give it up for Corinna, man.
09:11 Thank you so much, Corinna, for being a part of the show.
09:15 You are definitely an amazing child.
09:18 Definitely.
09:19 Yeah, make some noise.
09:20 Make some noise.
09:21 We'll be right back with so much more of Kids.
09:28 Welcome back.
09:41 Welcome back to the show.
09:42 Now, our next guest is an electric performer with a personality to match.
09:48 He has a love for singing and dancing and has been performing for three years.
09:53 He takes inspiration from some legendary performers and he's going to be showing his outstanding talent today.
10:01 Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a hearty round of applause and welcome on stage, Kael.
10:09 Who is he?
10:17 You good?
10:18 Yeah.
10:19 Come, step in, step in, step in.
10:21 Step into the agency, who my brother?
10:24 Jesus.
10:27 I feel like I have to do that same thing, boy.
10:31 Kael, where are you going, boy?
10:34 I am going green.
10:36 What you did today?
10:37 Well, I did have to wait for me to perform, but I had some patience.
10:44 You had some patience, man. That's good. What you did before you came here?
10:48 Well, I picked up my stuff and come and see you.
10:53 So, how old are you, Kael?
10:56 Seven years old.
10:57 Seven years old. When are you going to be eight?
10:59 In December 13th.
11:01 December 13th? Alright, so you sing?
11:04 Mm-hmm.
11:05 How long have you been singing?
11:06 For like about 30 years.
11:10 I did it like...
11:11 Kael, you're singing for 30 years?
11:31 Yeah, for 30 years.
11:37 This might be the next year.
11:40 This was in another life?
11:43 Yes.
11:44 Right. I believe you, you know. I believe you.
11:47 So, 30 years plus you're singing?
11:49 Yeah.
11:50 Right, right, right.
11:51 So, you say you play the drums?
11:53 Mm-hmm.
11:54 So, what do you like more? You like singing or you like playing the drums?
11:57 I like both.
11:59 You like both? You can't decide right now which one?
12:02 Nah.
12:03 Alright, so you can be one of those performers who plays an instrument and sings at the same time?
12:08 Mm-hmm.
12:09 Yeah? Yeah?
12:10 Who dressed you today?
12:12 It's always my mother.
12:14 It's always your mommy, eh?
12:16 Yeah, big up, mommy.
12:18 Let me see that again.
12:24 Let me see that. Let me see it again.
12:25 Everybody see your dress. We want to see it again.
12:32 Something wrong with you, boy?
12:34 Something wrong with me?
12:38 Yes.
12:39 We matching?
12:40 We matching, boy. We sharp right now on the stage.
12:44 Telling you, yeah.
12:46 We matching.
12:47 Great minds think alike, my brother.
12:48 Mm-hmm. That's what I'm telling you.
12:51 Say something wrong with me. You say you sing it for 30 years?
12:55 So, where you want to be when you grow up?
13:01 It's always a police officer.
13:02 A police officer?
13:04 Yeah, they can help people.
13:05 Yeah? Yeah?
13:07 So, you want to go into training and help people?
13:12 Yes, I do.
13:13 And you think the police service is where you need to be?
13:16 Yes, I think.
13:18 But you know you can be a police officer and be a singer and a drummer too?
13:21 Well, yeah. That's what I'm working on.
13:23 Alright, my brother. You have a plan.
13:25 So, who are your best friends?
13:27 Adewan Zane.
13:30 Are they here today?
13:31 Look, they're right there.
13:32 Hey! That's my best friend.
13:34 Everybody, I want you to meet my two best friends, Adewan and Zane.
13:39 What's up, my brothers?
13:41 So, let's hear from mommy now.
13:46 Her name is Latoya Drogue.
13:48 Huh?
13:50 I would like to introduce you as well, Latoya Drogue.
13:54 I actually call her mommy.
13:57 Mommy.
14:00 Good afternoon, everyone.
14:01 More like moomy.
14:02 Moomy.
14:04 Mommy, how are you?
14:05 I am fantastic. How are you?
14:06 I'm great. I'm having a very inspiring conversation with your diligent son.
14:13 I can see that.
14:14 Yeah. He has a lot of swag. Does he get it from you?
14:17 My mommy is like, "Okay, yeah, I get it."
14:19 Well, maybe. A little bit, but 50/50.
14:24 Mommy, you know I'm extra.
14:29 Correct.
14:30 So, mom, how is Kiel at home?
14:34 Just what you see is what you get.
14:37 That's what I just said.
14:38 24/7.
14:40 Does he perform a lot?
14:42 I always do.
14:44 Everyone. The dogs, the teddy bears, anybody that passes.
14:50 So, he's the life of the family.
14:53 Literally.
14:54 You could bring the room from here, Kiel, to up here. Let me start the party now.
14:59 Kiel's in the building.
15:01 Watch how I can beatbox.
15:03 Oh, God.
15:05 Oh, why you so serious?
15:09 I'm the king.
15:18 You are young king.
15:21 I'm son.
15:22 Yes.
15:23 So, Kiel, who is your favorite performer?
15:26 Michael Jackson.
15:28 Michael Jackson?
15:29 Yeah.
15:30 Michael Jackson?
15:31 Yes.
15:32 Michael Jackson?
15:33 Yes.
15:34 What's your favorite song from Michael Jackson?
15:35 "Furlough," which I'm gonna sing.
15:37 You're singing that for us?
15:38 Yeah.
15:39 You are a happy spirit. You light up the room, as your mom said.
15:46 Any room you go in, I think you can make people laugh, you can make people smile.
15:51 And that is a gift from God.
15:53 I know that.
15:54 Yeah, that's a gift from God.
15:56 And I hope that your mom harnesses that gift, so you can give it back to the world.
16:01 You know what I mean?
16:02 Where's that band on your hand?
16:03 So, Ado, he gave two of these for me.
16:09 And I decided to give one to somebody.
16:12 Okay. Okay. Who's that somebody, boy?
16:14 You.
16:15 Me?
16:20 You have to fan me. You have to fan me before I cry.
16:23 So, I spotted him for charity, you know?
16:32 Thank you.
16:36 I don't feel like tattooing anymore.
16:42 I am seven.
16:45 Can't tell me nothing.
16:47 Thank you so much, my brother. I appreciate it.
16:50 I'm gonna cherish this forever and ever and ever.
16:53 Make sure you don't lose it.
16:54 I ain't gonna lose it.
16:56 I ain't gonna lose it. Right? I'll put it somewhere special and safe.
16:59 Right?

21:57 Malik "Mini" Foley!
22:00 [Kids cheering]
22:02 Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome.
22:12 How are we today?
22:22 I am very fantastic. Great!
22:24 Great. Let's get the names now.
22:27 I am Shemaa Colas.
22:29 Shemaa.
22:30 Hi, my name is Caden Patrick.
22:32 I am Zinga Israel Moses.
22:35 Zinga Israel Moses, alright.
22:38 I am Ifetayo Phillips.
22:41 Ifetayo Phillips.
22:42 And I am Adrian Hines.
22:44 Adrian Hines.
22:46 How are you doing today, my brother?
22:48 I am doing amazing.
22:49 Are you filled with your ancestors' blood and memories today?
22:53 Yes.
22:54 Are you ready to beat that drum?
22:56 Yes.
22:57 Oh my gosh.
22:58 So, how did you all get into drumming? Talk to me.
23:02 Well, my mother is running the junior company in Malik for performing.
23:10 So, I just joined.
23:12 You love drumming?
23:14 Yes, I do.
23:16 When you drum, when you pick up that drum, what does it do for you personally?
23:22 It carries me around the world.
23:24 It carries you around the world.
23:26 Alright, my brother.
23:27 So, Ifetayo, I have a question for you.
23:29 How does it feel to be the only girl in the group?
23:32 I feel like if I own them.
23:34 You feel like if you own them?
23:38 So, you are really in charge?
23:40 You are in charge here?
23:42 I wouldn't say that way.
23:44 So, you are the baby in the group?
23:46 Kind of.
23:48 So, your brothers take care of you?
23:49 Yes.
23:50 Nice. Does anybody carry a drum for you?
23:52 You carry a drum for yourself?
23:54 No, I carry it.
23:55 You carry it?
23:56 Is that like a rule?
23:57 Everybody has to take care of their instrument and their drums?
24:00 Yes.
24:01 So, if somebody's instrument goes missing, does the group get blamed or that person?
24:06 That person.
24:07 So, talk to me about the attire today.
24:10 Who designed the attire? It's lovely.
24:12 Shamak's mummy designed it.
24:15 Alright.
24:16 Alright.
24:17 Where is Shamak's mummy?
24:18 Shamak's mummy in the crowd?
24:19 Hi, mummy. Say, "Hi, mummy."
24:21 Hi, mummy.
24:23 Mum, how are you?
24:25 I am fantastic. Thank you.
24:27 I see you are a fashion designer.
24:29 I try a thing.
24:30 Yes. Now, you get through.
24:33 You are looking proper on the stage.
24:35 So, tell me, do you normally design their clothing?
24:38 Well, as Shamak said, I run the junior arm of the company.
24:42 So, besides the drummers, we have dancers.
24:45 So, I basically design. I sew sometimes. I try.
24:51 So, it cuts costs because there are a lot of them.
24:54 So, it cuts costs if I could just do the majority myself.
24:57 And of course, I have the parents' support.
24:59 So, we form a little train and everybody sticks and sews.
25:02 Yeah.
25:03 Everything comes together nicely.
25:04 Yes.
25:05 Are they looking proper?
25:07 Proper.
25:08 Anything? This is the finale here, no?
25:10 You know you all end and all of the kids are amazing, right?
25:12 Yes, we do.
25:13 You know that?
25:14 Yes, we do.
25:15 And we leave all of it for last because we're going out drumming.
25:18 Yes.
25:19 We're going out with our rhythm.
25:20 We're going out with our inspiration that we gained over the past couple episodes.
25:24 And what better way to do it than to do it with you guys?
25:27 You all ready to perform?
25:28 Yes, we are.
25:29 You all ready to perform?
25:30 Yes, we are.
25:31 You all ready to perform?
25:32 Yes, we are.
25:33 You all ready to perform?
25:34 Yes.
25:35 You all ready to perform?
25:36 Yes.
25:37 Ladies and gentlemen, bring it to the stage, Malik "Mini" Foley.
25:42 [applause]
25:45 [drumming]
26:09 [singing]
26:14 [drumming]
26:24 [singing]
