Christopher Carrion
@jlacharite1
"Christopher Carrion" is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Jesse Lacharite. The solo project was started in Spring 2015 after the collapse of my previous project Decillion. The band name was lifted from Clive Barkers (of Hellraiser fame) Abarat series, which I was reading at the time.
I've always been a huge fan of King Diamond and Opeth and wanted to carry on the tradition of writing horror based concept albums. Christopher Carrion is exclusively a studio project, because where I live (Kingston, Ontario) there are barely any metal musicians which is why I concentrate on the studio aspects instead of turning it into a touring outfit.
Unlike many artists I write and release songs individually. Once the album cycle is complete I release the material via my Distrokid account to all the appropriate streaming and E-Retailer sites. I found that in the modern music scene people don't want to wait a year or two before a new album comes out and this prompted me to change how I interact with my fan base and seems to be working....for now ;)
As a musician I am a classically trained pianist and guitarist. With a lot of my music, there is a lot of classical orchestration involve. I do this to try and add a new dimension to the music plus it helps contrast the heavier parts with the more emotive ones. I try to cover every aspect of metal, deathier elements mixed with blackened ones, straight ahead metal mixed with more proggy elements. Generally speaking I try to make very diverse albums that keep the listener engaged with a wide spectrum of musical influences. At the end of the day I just try to write compelling music and let the chips fall where they may, hopefully the music connects and creates a positive impression.
