@jbtenney
My name is J.B. Tenney. I have been primarily playing acoustic guitar for a few years now, after spending most of my life teaching myself drums, bass, and electric guitar, as well as other various intruments. My roots began in punk and hard rock, somehow evolving into funk and jazz. After buying my first acoustic guitar and loop pedal a little over three years ago, I knew where my music was going to go from there. It was an instant thrill to be percussive and melodic at the same time, with only one instrument.
Besides being an instrumentalist, I am also a singer and songwriter. I can't really say what style I fit into, although I am frequently billed as "acoustic folk/jazz fusion". Not sure if that fits or what but it has worked so far.
I have been performing all over the east coast for years as both a solo act, and with various groups. I have also done studio session work for everything from country, jazz, rock, blues, radio jingles and other projects.
I must say that there is nothing more satisfying than showing up somewhere new, playing my songs, and watching people smile. I feel that my job as a performer is to entertain and give people a little break from the harshness of life (or at times reflect it when apropriate) through music.
