Jae Deen
@JaeDeen
Joshua Asare, who is also known as ”Jae Deen” is a 20-year-old Muslim, who currently resides in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and has been living there his entire life. He is a student at Carleton University, majoring in comparative religion with a minor in philosophy. The reason why he studies religion, according to Jae, is because it is a subject he is very passionate about. It is something that has an integral role in his daily life ever since the days he discovered and decided to embrace the religion of Islam, at the age of fifteen. He participates in a lot of extra curricular activities, but most importantly, he composes music as well. Jae has been involved in the field of entertainment since the beginning of his teenage years and continues to pursue his dreams till this day.
Prior to his conversion to Islam, Jae Deen would create music, but with the content based on negativity and would not receive the feedback he expected. He continued to do his Hip-Hop during his high school years but after he converted to Islam, he decided to denounce his position in participating in music in order to focus on gaining knowledge to the religion he just accepted. After a year and a half from his withdrawal, Jae decided to return to the industry of music, but with an alternative sound. He came back, talking in reference to his personal life, family, and most importantly, his faith in God. Jae Deen has made a few accomplishments in the year of 2013, from opening up for the Islamic music sensation, Maher Zain, being a finalist in the Awakening Records Talent Competition, touring all across his province in collaboration with his group “House Of Halaal” and winning a Talent contest in Canada’s largest Muslim event which occurs every year in Toronto, Reviving The Islamic Spirit, performing in front of 25,000 thousand people along with his friend, Ali Islam. Jae Deen has a goal, he is not trying to be an Islamic “Superstar” but rather he only wishes to be a mouthpiece of the Muslim Ummah, to spread the message by relating it to his life experiences, in order to benefit others, Muslims or Humanity in General.
