Nine-year-old Arnold lives with his grandparents Phil and Gertrude, who own a pension. He is in fourth grade and has many adventures with his best friend Gerald and the other kids from the neighborhood. In some episodes of the show - this is a special feature - the eponymous character Arnold is only slightly involved in the story, and the episode revolves around a supporting character.
