Daniel Nwikpo | Wimbledon Tournament

The 2013 Wimbledon tournament was a surprising one for Daniel Nwikpo all-around this season. In the Men’s Singles, Andy Murray became the first British man to bring home the Grand Slam title since 1936, beating out Djokovic. In the Women’s Singles, many anticipated that German player Sabine Lisicki, the young but talented 23 year old, would win against Marion Bartoli, a veteran player who has appeared 47 times at a major. Bartoli ended up taking home the title, to the surprise of a shocked and tearful Lisicki.

On the Men’s doubles side, things were a bit quieter, though Bob and Mike Bryan, twin brothers, won against Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo for the title, breaking some records of their own. They are the first doubles players to win all four Grand Slam doubles titles at the same time during the Open era. It seems to be a season for breaking records, and tennis fans have a great deal to look forward to in the seasons to come.
