Chris And The Other Girls
@Catog
Chris And The Other Girls is the name Fabian proposed, when i told him that i wanted to start a solo project, as I used to call my friends "ladies" sometimes back in the days. He's not just a good friend of mine, but also the bass player in the punk rock band Dressy Vagabonds i used to be a part ofthis.
When I moved to Vienna in 2002 I had to leave my band behind (because of the huge distance between Bolzano and Vienna) and I just felt like finally having an opportunity to sing and record all of the slow songs I had written over the years of being the lead singer in Dressy Vagabonds.
As I didn't know basically anybody in Vienna at that time, I kinda started playing some solo shows and recording my first acoustic demo songs. As I got to know musicians I asked people to play live shows along with me. As i never wanted Chris And The Other Girls to become a band with fix members, most of the first shows were kinda different and still they are.
Most of the time it's band shows with drums, bass, guitars and stuff, but sometimes it's still special gigs with just vocals and a guitar or piano and upright bass. I let that depend on the club and mood I am in.
To be in a solo project is extremely important to me as this is probably the only way to keep myself happy and excited for a long period of time. I could immagine being a guitar player in a band or have any other kind of band structure, but not with these very personal songs that are just all about my life. I just don't wanna have any discussions :-)
