"Star Trek Into Darkness" lights up Hollywood

Starship "Enterprise" crewmates Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana ventured onto the red carpet Tuesday night (May 14) for the Hollywood premiere of the J.J. Abrams directed sci-fi flick, "Star Trek Into Darkness."

The second "Star Trek" film under the skillful guidance of Abrams, finds the franchise, which is based on Gene Roddenberry's iconic 1960's television show, in good hands.

The film picks up the story line in the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, when the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Chris Pine reprises his role of Captain Kirk, who leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction.

Abrams credits his own crew with bringing the film to another destination.
