Search for bodies ends in Bangladesh building

With the death toll now at 1,127, the search for victims of the Bangladesh factory collapse, one of the world's most deadly industrial accidents, is called off.

Officials said almost 2,500 people were rescued alive-- including one woman extracted from the rubble 17 days after the disaster.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) COLONEL IMRANUZZAMAN SAYING:

"Our rescue operation had been officially called off yesterday evening. Our General Commanding Officer Chowdhury Hasan Sohrwardi had a press briefing yesterday, he expressed elaborately and explained about different aspects of this operation. And today we are waiting, we will have a special prayer, and after that we will go out from this area."

Military personnel and relatives of those killed gathered to offer prayers, some raising pictures of their lost loved ones.
