Hopscotch has been a traditional game for children for centuries. Recently, a 10-year-old girl in Kent, United Kingdom received a warning by police for drawing on the pavement with chalk.

Two unidentified officers reportedly told the child Lilly Allen that writing on the ground with chalk was considered criminal damage. She received the reprimand while playing outside of her own home.

Lilly’s father, Robert posted a picture of her Hopscotch outline on Facebook, joking about his quote unquote delinquent daughter.

A law enforcement spokesperson is left baffled and stated “From the circumstances described, it would not appear to have been necessary to advise the young girl that chalking a hopscotch grid may be criminal damage and illegal.”

Earlier this year, another child faced punishment for a seemingly innocent action. A 7-year-boy, Josh Welch from Baltimore was suspended for reportedly creating a firearm shape from his pastry.

Josh told news outlets that he had been trying to chew his strawberry tart to make it look like a mountain but in the end, it turned out appearing more like a gun.
