100 billion packages of instant noodles are sold each year.

Instant noodles have reached annual sales of 100 billion packages per year.

The world’s biggest consumer is China at 44 million units, but they’re also the world’s biggest producer.

Of the 100 billion served globally, half of the noodles were made in China. Resulting revenues were just shy of 9 billion dollars.

According to a spokesperson for the World Instant Noodles Association, the food item’s most recent success is attributed to the population growth in developing countries.

He also said that by 2022, worldwide sales should reach 200 billion servings.

Instant noodles were the invention of Japanese businessman Momofuku Ando, founder of the Nissin Foods, in 1958.

Instant Noodles have proven to be an economical and easy to prepare meal option and have gained a reputation in the US for being a college student nutritional mainstay.

In fact, Rasmussen College has included ramen recipes in the student life section of it’s official website. Categories include Boiled Ramen Noodle Salads, Beef Ramen Dishes, and Ramen for Breakfast.
