Restaurant bomb kills three in Iraq's Falluja

Half finished meals and bloodstains on the floor - the aftermath of a bomb attack in a popular kebab restaurant in the Iraqi city of Falluja.

The blast killed three people and wounded 16 others, police and hospital sources said.

This man says he was eating inside the restaurant when the blast happened.

"I lost consciousness and started to recite "there is no god but Allah and Mohammed is His messenger," he says.

Falluja, in Anbar province, was once the heart of al Qaeda's battle against American troops.

The area was subdued in 2006-7 when tribal leaders turned against al Qaeda fighters.

But security has deteriorated in Anbar province, forcing officials to postpone local elections there due to take place last Saturday.

Thousands of Sunnis have taken to the streets in the province to protest what they say is discrimination by Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Malaki's government.
