Rushing to bring the injured to the hospital after a bomb went off at a political rally in Peshawar. Nine people were killed and at least 50 injured in the attack targeting the ANP (Awani National Party) --- a known opponent of Pakistan's Taliban.

Police say a suicide bomber jumped out of the crowd just as a senior party member's car arrived, blowing himself up as he reached the car's window. Mangled steel and blood near the point of impact. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack

The attack in the norwestern city underscores the threat insurgent violence poses ahead of the May election, which would mark the first transition in Pakistan between elected civilian governments.
