Black cash collectors' detained at Moscow's airport

STORY: A group of 'black cash collectors' with roughly half a billion of Russian rubles (16 million U.S. dollars) in stolen cash and several firearms was detained in Moscow's Vnukovo airport on Thursday (March 28).

Twenty people have been arrested during a raid on an international money laundering ring.

The people arrested were allegedly members of a Caucasian cash laundering gang that tried to smuggle a lump sum into the country, the Russian Interior Ministry press-service said.

The inter-regional criminal gang carried out their operations in the Caucasus region of Russia, the ministry explained.

The cash originated from markets and shopping centers in the republic of Dagestan as well as from bank accounts of shell companies, pretending to be selling goods to virtual customers.
