Banks reopened in Cyprus after a 12-day lockdown, with most branches guarded by private security guards to ensure law and order. Still, banking is under strict capital controls designed to prevent a catastrophic run on the banks. Authorities say the controls will be temporary, but not many people believe that. The biggest question is: will confidence return in Cyprus as a financial center? Al Jazeera's Simon McGregor-Wood reports from Nicosia.
