A deadly bus crash on Jordan's Dead Sea Highway kills at least seventeen people.

Dozens of others injured when the bus collided with a truck.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) TAHA KHATIB, WHO WITNESSED THE ACCIDENT, SAYING:

"At the time of the crash some people were thrown from the windows. About six people flew through windows, some here and some there, these people all survived. We came here and we forced open the doors and we started pulling out the people from inside the bus. Some people we pulled out were dead, others were alive."

One passenger blamed the driver.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) TUFAHA BASSAM, CRASH SURVIVOR, SAYING:

"We were going back home, and the bus was driving at a high speed, and then it flipped over, that's what happened. Excessive speed caused this."

Police say the bus was carrying about 50 Palestinian passengers who were on their way to the West bank after a pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
