Oprah tops Forbes most influential celebrity list; Ang Lee directs TV pilot

Oprah tops Forbes' list of most influential celebrities of 2013. Her high profile interview with Lance Armstrong contributed to her "marketing effectiveness," this according to Forbes. The poll was based on factors like cultural awareness, appeal and likability. Rounding out the list's top five were movie directors Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard and George Lucas.

Oscar winner Ang Lee is moving over to TV. U.S. cable channel FX said that the filmmaker will direct the pilot episode of its drama "Tyrant," about an unassuming American family drawn into the affairs of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. It's Lee's first venture into TV directing and his first project since 2012's "Life of Pi," the tale of a young Indian boy shipwrecked with a tiger that won four Oscars in February.
