LETTERS FROM SILENCE - WHITE TEETH SMILE

PRESENTED BY BARBAX

Letters From Silence is a guitar project founded in 2009 in Warsaw by ex-musicians of Bramafan (Wawrzyniec Dąbrowski) and Monday Rebels (Maciek Bąk).

Musically it is a minimalistic and stripped-down combination of naturalness of amercian rock with melancholy of Scandinavian sounds and asceticism and intimacy of neo-folk. Lyrics touch the topic of journey, motion and even running away, which rese
mble life and progress.

Their stage debut took place at a charity concert raising money for rebuilding Jadłodajnia Filozoficzna, the legendary Polish alternative club destroyed by fire in November 2009.

On February 15, 2010 Letters From Silence released their first EP "Letters From Silence" which was highly rated by the presenters of Polish Public Broadcaster Polish Radio 3, Eska Rock, Radio Dla Ciebie and Radio Euro, among the others, as well as the major blog on Polish alternative music site -- We Are From Poland. The whole EP album is available free on the official website of Letters From Silence.

On July 3, 2010 Letters From Silence appeared on Heineken Open'er Festival (Young Talents stage) in Gdynia.

The song "Sleeve" is included in the latest (vol. 6) compilation of We Are From Poland.
The band was recommended by Piotr Metz, co-founder of the main Polish Radio RFM FM and editor-in-chief of Machina magazine, and marked with the Polish Radio 3 Quality Label, which distinguishes fresh, most promising and interesting acts in Polish music.

Moreover, Letters From Silence was awarded Grand Prix at the Festival of Polish Radio IV in Pisz and at "Gramy" Festival in Szczecin the band was awarded a special prize -- on-the-air guest shows in the legendary Studio of Agnieszka Osiecka in Warsaw and Studio of Polish Radio in Szczecin. The live version of song "Longest Journey Back Home" was included in "Offesesje 2" compilation, released by Polish Radio.

The band created an ascetic duet which, deprived of rhythm section, resulted in an electrifying combination. By contrasting the sounds of acoustic and electric guitars, combined with deep vocals they achieved powerful load of emotions with a minimalism of form.

The list of the inspirations for Letters From Silence is long and various. On one hand they may seem similar to avant-pop experimenters from northern Scandinavia, Germany or Great Britain, and on the other hand, vocals and harsh electric riffs may associate with grunge rebellion. This is where folk soaked with the coldness and melancholy of distant places meets pure energy and filthiness of rock. But characteristic sound and atmosphere are not the only key to grasping the band's music, the most important are the songs themselves. Unforgettable melodies and lyrics provoking afterthoughts are certain to make every listener astonished.

The band themselves appears at more and more significant musical events and their own gigs. They have also their first full-length album already realised (premiere: 13th June of 2011) by one of the major polish labels (Agencja Fonograficzna Polskiego Radia).
