Police link further theft from patients at separate hospital
Police investigating thefts from patients at Salford Royal believe the offender has struck at another hospital.
On 15 February 2013, a mobile phone and wallets containing cash was stolen from a drawer on one of the wards at Salford Royal, while a patient was having surgery.
On 21 February 2013, almost £100 was stolen from a room on the same ward.
On Monday 25 February 2013, a 26-year-old woman had her phone stolen while she was away from her hospital bed at the MRI.
The offender for all incidents is generally described as white, in his 20s, of medium build and with balding hair.
A man caught on CCTV at the Salford Royal has been released and police are keen to identify him.
PC Steven Hughes, from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We are working closely with local hospitals and colleagues in neighbouring areas to see if any similar incidents have occurred.
"At this time we are linking a couple of thefts from both Salford and Manchester Royal hospitals.
"Someone is deliberately targeting members of our community when they are at their most vulnerable and we are determined to bring this person to justice.
"They are deplorable and shameless acts and anyone who knows the person in the CCTV must do the right thing and call us."
