Guy Laroche pays homage to Marlene Dietrich

STORY: Guy Laroche's autumn/winter 2013 collection, revealed on Day Two of Paris Fashion Week (February 27), was an ode to the femme fatale.
The looks shown on the runway were all about gender-bending silhouettes that contrasted fierce femininity with potent masculinity.
When asked about the inspiration behind his latest collection, the French label's Creative Director Marcel Marongiu cited style icon Marlene Dietrich.
"This really famous picture of Marlene Dietrich when she goes during the Second World War and she does performances for the GI's and she wears this beret and this aviator jacket on a dress and I thought this was a really good start for the show," he said.
Despite the tough black ensembles, there were also softer pieces in the collection such as the silk flared trousers in bright pink and deep purple as well as the satin coloured dresses and white and black chiffon blouses.
Evening wear consisted of glossy python-like jackets made of braided silk and sparkly rhinestone-embellished cocktail numbers.
Paris is the final leg of the international fashion weeks whirlwind, following New York, London and Milan. From February 26 to March 6, a legion of fashion's biggest names ranging from Louis Vuitton to Chanel to Dior will show off their latest collections.
