Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Charles B. Schudson Monica Migliorino Miller to nine months in prison, saying the woman is a danger to the community. Her attorney, William Kerner, called the sentence the harshest ever given to an anti-abortion activist in Milwaukee.
Schudson said he sentenced Monica Migliorino Miller for her criminal conduct at an abortion protest, not for her anti-abortion stance."Monica Miller is not being sentenced for her beliefs or for her efforts to rescue unborn children. Monica Miller is being sentenced for dangerous criminal conduct that obstructed police, threatened safety and violated constitutional rights," Schudson said.Monica Miller,, is director of Citizens for Life, an anti-abortion group she founded in January 1986. She was found guilty in 1990 of disorderly conduct, unlawful assembly and obstructing an officer during an abortion protest June 8, 1989. Schudson sentenced Miller to 90 days for disorderly conduct, nine months for unlawful assembly, and nine months for obstructing an officer. He ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
