DIMITRY DATUS - HOPE I'M GOING MAD

Dimitry Datus are a unique blend of rock, blending styles from alternative, punk, ska, blues and touches of folk. A debut EP, Sound, released in 2012 from the trio based in Cork consists of 5 tracks, all original, all self-produced and all self-recorded. Guitar, bass, drums and a solitary voice create the sound.
Since 2009, Dimitry Datus have delivered a stage performance in both acoustic and electric forms which has been described as 'An up-beat, ska-seated, bass-ripping, head-shaking set of original songs. Their tunes contain some gems of lyrical wit, delivered with a sure hand and a rhythm as sharp as a Spiv's suit!' (Dungarvan Observer, 18/04/12). This live performance has now been transcribed to a record that 'has more than regional appeal... [with] promise and maturity that shows a band with a good grasp of what ties a song together' (MRU 12/09/2012).
The title of the EP is 'Sound', is also a 'Cork - thank you' to all those who have come along in support over the last few years. Having recently played some top venues -- the Cork Opera House, Cyprus Avenue, Crane Lane and the Ballinamore Fringe Festival -- Dimitry Datus are again recording towards the release of an album in 2013.
