Due to adverse weather conditions up on Crap Sogn Gion at the 14th Burton European Open presented by MINI both the Men’s Slopestyle Finals and Women’s Slopestyle Semis and Finals have been cancelled for the duration of the event. Safety comes first, and hitting the Slopestyle course in these extreme weather conditions would not match Burton European Open’s security standards.

The joint decision to cancel was taken at a riders’ meeting this morning, by both event organizers and riders. It was decided by Burton to split the total prize purse between the 39 women who were to ride in the Semis, each receiving a princely sum of $790. The girls were stoked with the cash and they could now head out and ride some pow.

For the men, the scores of Wednesday’s Semi-Finals would be counted as the final results, leaving Torstein Horgmo to take center stage on the podium, with Mark McMorris and Sebastien Toutant taking second and third respectively. Torstein said: „Six years ago I broke my back here in Laax at the BEO, now I’m back for the first time and I won, it can’t be better! It has been an amazing week, too bad the weather didn’t allow to ride the finals today, but we all gave our best yesterday.“
These results also count towards the Overall and Slopestyle World Snowboard Tour rankings.

Mark McMorris moves into the top spot of the World Snowboard Tour Slopestyle ranking with 801.62 points, pushing Roope Tonteri (FIN) into 2nd place. Sebastien

Toutant moves into 8th place both Overall and in Slopestyle, and Torstein moves into 13th place in the Slopestyle rankings.
