An anniversary tarnished by violence.

Protests marking the second anniversary of an uprising in the island nation of Bahrain were marred Thursday when security forces reportedly killed a teenager near the capitol Manama, and wounded dozens more.

The website of the main opposition group said a young man succumbed to bullet wounds following small scale clashes between protesters and government forces.

The Interior Ministry announced via Twitter a death had occurred but gave few details.

Demonstrators have gone to the streets in small protests on an almost daily basis since early 2011.

They're demanding the Sunni ruling family call elections and create a constitutional monarchy.
