Jethro Sheeran, a.k.a Alonestar, is on the rise. The past few years have seen him winning two Exposure Music Awards (Best Male Artist and Best Urban Song), signing a publishing deal with EMI, and performing live on Danish TV in front of over three million viewers. At the eye of this storm is his most recent release Warrior, a 6-track EP featuring collaborations with Ja Ja Soze, Rosie Ribbons, and his cousin Ed Sheeran. Returning the complement, Ed recently incorporated a portion of Alonestar's song 'Shottas Paradise' on his own single 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'.
Jethro Alonestar Sheeran feels that this success is much attributed to the very loyal fanbase that have supported him and his music. Alonestar says "The Sheeranators/Sheeranwarriors are the backbone of my rise and I will always embrace their loyalty. My focus will always be for my amazingly supportive followers, big love to you all"
Yet Jethro has also seen dark days, having lost custody of his daughter in 2007, when she was taken to Trinidad without his consent. Battling to make sense of his world in the ensuing years, he has turned to music as a source of comfort. On Warrior, we hear the sound of that struggle, via a heart-rending series of tracks, in which soul-searching rhymes and propulsive beats swarm round vocal melodies that are as haunting as they are sweet.
In recent months Alonestar has reconnected with the family and now Skyla is back in his arms. The music reflects this and brings real meaning to the "Live hard, Love strong" motto that Alonestar lives by.
From the music alone it's easy to see why he has been making such waves, but he is also a consummate showman, and has delighted audiences in the UK, Morocco, Spain and Trinidad, with a live show that Dean Hill of the Exposure Music Awards has described as "mind-blowing". With a busy touring schedule, and an upcoming single release ('Real Life') on Bristol-based label Reel Me Records, 2012 is already look- ing like another extraordinary year, and Alonestar looks set to continue changing lives.
