Lakeside - Make My Day [HQ] 1986 Video at American Bandstand

Lakeside's "Make My Day," from 1984's Outrageous, was an edgy affair that ultimately ended up a twisted Euro-disco epic. Of course the title adapts the Dirty Harry catchphrase that caught President Reagan's early-'80s attention, adding to the song's contemporary flavor. From the sonics of early Chic to the beep-beep mannerisms of Georgio Moroder and the whistle starts that appeared on any number of other bands' singles, "Make My Day" found Lakeside making their home in arenas that were far from their early classic funk roots. Nevertheless, they handled the challenge well and, though "Make My Day" does lack that effusive "live" feel which once was the band's strongest suit, still it is a fine example of the band's mid-'80s work and made a reasonable Top 50 splash in fall 1984.
