Rescue workers comb through debris looking for survivors of a devastating bridge collapse in central China.

The bridge gave out when a truck carrying fireworks exploded early Friday morning, sending vehicles plunging 30 metres to the ground.

At least five people were killed and 11 injured in the accident.

10 trucks were found crashed under the bridge. 15 people were rescued.

Rescue efforts were still underway, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Fireworks explosions are common in China, especially around the Chinese New Year holiday.

Chinese New Year, which begins next weekend, is marked by riotous fireworks displays traditionally thought to bring good luck for the year ahead.
