A daring rescue caught on tape here in the town of Biloela in Queensland, Australia.

Two women and a young child were trapped as their vehicle was engulfed in rapidly rising floodwaters on Saturday.

But a helicopter emergency response team came to the rescue.

First, the terrified toddler is loaded into a waterproof bag.

He is then winched to the safety of the helicopter in the arms of a rescue worker - as the women wait below in the bed of their pickup truck.

Both women were rescued as well.

At least one person has been reported dead and several others injured in the severe weather, including torrential rain, tornados and flooding.

Authorities say around 58,000 houses in the state are without electricity, hundreds of homes under water, and several towns are completely cut off.

The weather system is on its way south and is expected to hit New South South Wales' capital Sydney by Monday.
