00:11Hi, I am Samuel Bianchini,
00:14I am an artist and I am also a teacher and a researcher.
00:17I work mainly on devices,
00:20generally interactive,
00:23that often require technologies to enable this interactivity,
00:27hence on devices that are in close contact
00:33with their context and with the public.
00:36These days, it is interesting to work on 3D
00:39because it is a technology
00:42that already has a relatively old history.
00:45Just remember a few decades ago
00:48the first films in 3D that struggled
00:51to find an audience and to be profitable.
00:54It is true that now a lot of entrepreneurs
00:56have invested significantly on these new technologies.
01:01In the end
01:03I think that there are not many interesting productions,
01:04or at least I have not seen a lot of things
01:07that seem relevant in this field,
01:10that is the reason
01:11why we must invest on this area.
01:13How to develop artistic works today
01:17in this field where the pieces
01:22are really tied up with their environment?
01:27I think we're in a period
01:30which reminds us of the 1920s
01:34when the modes of representation
01:36were changing a lot
01:38and the artists had to adapt
01:40and work hard on them.
01:42When proposing projects in 3D,
01:44in my opinion,
01:45like with many projects involving new technologies,
01:49we must be very careful keeping a certain distance
01:52from these techniques and knowing
01:54how to invest them in a radical and simple way.
01:58So I think this is where things can happen.
02:00What makes that a project requires 3D?
02:07Will the 3D become a little extra or on the contrary,
02:11will it have a fundamental legitimacy
02:14to be used in a specific project?
02:17It is a real opportunity to bring together
02:21the very challenging world of contemporary art
02:24and this prospective technology for the general public,
02:28there is an opportunity to be seized
02:31and I hope we will have many applications
02:34of very good quality.
