The Newshour Debate: Team India without shame? (Part 2 of 2)

They are the highest paid cricketers in the world, but on Thursday (January 3) they took Indian cricket to it's lowest point after arch rival Pakistan defeated them by 85-runs in the second cricket one-dayer to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series at Eden Gardens. Loss after loss seem to make no difference to a team of non-performing superstars. Dhoni's men were disgraced at home after being humiliated at home by England. Playing to save the series, the onus was on the key players to deliver for the country. The opening pair, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir failed to deliver runs and their partnership was broken swiftly. Virat Kholi's batting was equally disastrous. Yuvraj Singh too failed to deliver his charisma and fell a prey to the Pakistan's bowling. While the Indian captain looked on helplessly from one end, India eventually went down without putting up a fight for a meagre 250-run chase. As Team India suffered yet another humiliating defeat, it's definitely time for the players to put the country before dressing room politics.
