A ship sailing under a British flag ran aground in the Asturian coast, near Aviles, northern Spain, and needed to be towed back to sea.

The 89 meter long "Beaumont" with six crew aboard ran aground in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday (December 12).

The Spanish coast guard said the crew were in good health and there was no danger of fuel contamination, Spanish daily El Mundo reported.

It was towed back to sea around midday and will undergo further inspection when it arrives in Aviles.

The ship run by the company Alavargonzalez was heading from La Coruña to the port of Aviles where it was going to pick-up wood based fuel.
