Robbie Williams lights up London

Robbie Williams charmed the crowds in London on Monday with a performance of his number one single 'Candy'.

The popstar was in the British capital to switch on the famous Oxford Street Christmas lights.

It's been a good week for 38-year-old Williams who topped the official UK singles chart for the first time in 8 years at the weekend:

SOUNDBIITE (English) singer, Robbie Williams:

"I am made up as they say in football. I haven't been number one since 2004 and it's great, you know two years away from being 40 and I am number one - it feels brilliant."

SOUNDBIITE (English) singer, Robbie Williams:

"'Candy' sounds like nothing on the album, to be honest with you but I have written a very, very poppy album on purpose. I want to fill stadiums hopefully at some point, I want big anthems and I think that I may I written them, and I think that they may be on this album - 'Take The Crown'."

Williams' new record has just been released, tickets from his upcoming gigs are due to go on sale - and plans for a massive summer tour are in the pipeline.

Looks like the Rock DJ's high is set to last.
