67th anniversary of NK ruling party

Pyongyang residents on Wednesday (October 10) commemorated the 67th anniversary of North Korea's ruling party, placing flowers by the statues of the country's founder Kim Il-sung and late leader Kim Jong-il.
Footage provided to Reuters by North Korea's official media KCNA showed officials and residents paying respects at the two statues by bowing and saluting.
KCNA said a floral basket from current leader Kim Jong-un was placed by the statues.
North Korea is governed by a "military-first" policy, or Songun, preached by Kim Jong-il and continued by his son and current leader.
On Tuesday (October 9), the isolated country said it has rockets that can hit the U.S. mainland, two days after South Korea struck a deal with the United States to extend the range of its ballistic missiles.
North and South Korea have been technically at war since their 1950-53 Korea War ended in a truce, not a peace treaty, and regional powers have for years been trying to rein in North Korea's nuclear programme.
