Avalanche survivors arrive in Kathmandu

Two Italians arrive in Nepal's capital Kathmandu on Monday.

They were airlifted from a Himalayan mountain after a weekend avalanche swept away camps, killing 11 people in the worst such disaster in nearly two decades.

The Italians declined to speak with reporters.

Seven French climbers were among the victims of the avalanche, which struck their camp on Mount Manaslu, the world's eighth-highest mountain.

Two German climbers and one each from Spain and Nepal also died.

Rescuers said they had recovered eight bodies - six of which were brought on Monday to this morgue in the Nepalese capital.

The search for climbers still missing is ongoing.
