This is from a series of videos produced for composer Judith Lang Zaimont featuring her music.

Please watch in HD format!

Peter Winograd, violin
Peter Wyric, cello
Joanne Polk, piano

Zaimont's music is continually inspired by contemplation of the natural world. In ZONES, nature's compelling aspects are the mercurial shifts of changing weather patterns. She interprets the word 'zone' to mean both a distinct section or segment, and as a particular climate band; its movements are titled Cold, Warm, and Temperate. "Temperate" is a de-constructed rondo, building stage by stage to a sardonically joyous theme, heard fully only at the end.

ZONES -- Piano Trio No. 2 was commissioned by the University of Alabama - Huntsville for the Silver Anniversary of the Huntsville Chamber Music Society, and premiered in 1995 by the Contreras Trio. The fine performance here by violinist Peter Winograd, cellist Peter Wyrick and pianist Joanne Polk is from the work's first recording, on a disc titled "ZONES".
