Waves crash over a jetty as Typhoon Sanba hits South Korea.

The storm has killed at least one person and injured two since making landfall Monday.

President Lee Myung-Bak held a meeting to deal with the typhoon -- the third to hit the peninsula in a month.

(SOUNDBITE) (Korean) SOUTH KOREAN PRESIDENT LEE MYUNG-BAK SAYING:

"The third typhoon came after two typhoons have gone, so damage will be bigger this time. So I think we must prepare more thoroughly than before for this typhoon."

Thousands have been evacuated and flights are grounded.

More damage is anticipated as Sanba moves northeast.
